party at felipe's

Ok - first of all, I have to say right now that I'm talking to Natasha online, and she's telling me about her adventures on the trip to Florida - if you know her, you'll have to get informed on the craziness.

Anyway - last night, I went to a party at a guy's house from one of my classes. For Social Geography, we're split up into groups to work for the rest of the semester. The main part of the class is going to a school in a poorer area to work with kids there - we'll figure out some project to do with them for the semester. Anyway - we need to get to know our groups on a more personal, informal level, so Felipe invited us to a party he was having this weekend.

Yea for finally editing this post - although this won't be much because the excitement has passed. The party was fun. It was interesting because not many of the people knew each other beforehand - everyone knew Felipe from different places, and didn't necessarily know him all that well. We brought Pisco, coke, and a set of different types of potato chips. It was not his birthday, so he decided the reason for the party was the international day of no meat. So, there were different breads, hummus, chips, etc. - a lot of it homemade, including some wine that he made - fun stuff. I went with Rebecca (who's in my group in that class, and we've hung out a lot). Felipe's house is in Quilpué, which is a 30-minute bus ride from Viña. We had a time of it getting to his house - made it there in one piece and everything, of course - just so you know, you should remind the bus driver to tell you when you're at the right stop, and that bus stops named 29 1/2 will probably not be marked. At the party, we basically chatted with different people, ate and drank a little, danced a little bit when there was some salsa music, and came back to Viña with a German girl that has a car - she's working for a contraceptives company here right now.

Love, Jessica
