At lunch today, we (ok, I) decided that the commons room needs to become a cafe/pub/potential nap room for the divinity school, so that we can start some revolutions. Danny reminded me of my own words (via my mentor JJ, oddly enough) of food being incredibly powerful in terms of hospitality, revolution-starting, etc.
This has been a theme of our discussion group convos. in God, Economy, and Poverty, too - needing space and energy for revolution-plotting.
At the moment, though, it's just time to get studying, reading, and paper-writing done. The world shall change when I go home for Thanksgiving, or just after Thanksgiving, or during the Christmas break, or next semester, or next summer - but no later than that - and surely I'll be getting a bit further in each of those steps.
I think I'm going to start throwing out ideas in this space for my next summer activity/job/project. I already had ideas coming into school - both for this summer and the next. But now I have more. So many ideas, so many passions!
Also, a note - on methodx, there's a thing called "sacred space", where you can create your own personal little sacred space - a place for a prayer journal (not the blog kind, where everyone in the world can read it), daily devotion, a beautiful image to look at, etc. I like the concept and may even use it in the future. I'm hoping to become more disciplined on the prayer front (yes, I know - war-language is not cool - it's so useful though).
Ok - much more to write on, but that's going to be it for now.
Oh, also - today's GEP class was about land/ecology/food - fabulous! I got some great stuff for at least one of the topics I'm thinking of writing on for the final paper - whether or not to hold as an ideal the incorporation of indigenous groups into the mainstream, global economy.
Oh, and - Angela and I talked to Danny today about the May Peru trip - super-excited about that!! If I could just go right now and stay for a year, I would be thrilled!
But - you know what? This is a process - and I need to channel all of this excited energy into Formation and Hebrew Bible studying (and God, Econ, and Pov papers).
