shifts, reminiscence

I just want to let the world know that I changed the language setting on my blog back from Spanish to English. It's a little bit sad that I and most who I communicate with speak mainly in English. But it's probably best to be functioning in a consistent language.

I also updated some other profile stuff - I don't receive e-mail at the sojo.net address anymore, nor do I live in Washington, DC. It's been a year since I did creative arts group at Travis Park in San Antonio. It's time to move on.

However, all the pieces of my life can't help but remain connected. This weekend, I went on a trip to the Smokies. Walking through Gatlinburg, I was reminded of Paul's, Sonja's, and my trip to Bariloche, Argentina - much more crude and flashy than Bariloche of course, but a little moutain toun with good chocolate nonetheless. I hiked in the semi-mountains and thought of getting lost at Cerro La Campana with Rebecca, Laurel, and Anna. I heard a couple of hip hop songs in the car and thought of our awesome parties at the Sojo house. We talked about the shitty situation at the larger of the 2 houses of our community, and I thought of our days of carbon monoxide and weeks of seeing our own breath during the era of Cafe Carbon last year. Hillbilly guys helped to fix my car, like when I had my wreck with the curb near Texarkana.

Lovely weekends in the hills. Good times.

Jess
