a rather productive day

Today, I:

-registered with the embassy online
-set up my online banking
-got a cell phone (e-mail me if you want the number)
-got 2 maps from Shana and she showed me some good places to check out, as well as how to get there by bus and metro
-rode in a taxi
-rode a bus
-rode the metro
-walked a lot
-spent my first Chilean money
-had a funky sandwich on the Paseo Alhmuada
-went to Plaza de Armas: including seeing the Cathedral, peeked into the post office, and went to the Natural History Museum.
-bought ice cream
-took a wrong bus and ended up walking a ton more!

Today is one of my "days off", so Shana gave me some ideas of things to do this morning - quite a day, and now I'm tired. I was really beginning to feel stuffy there for awhile, because I didn't know how to make my way around. I'm enjoying all the e-mails I've gotten. Sorry for not responding to all that I've gotten in the past however long. I haven't really been that busy while I've been at the house, but as I've mentioned, internet stuff's been crazy. One night this week, Oscar will come by to check out the internet connection with my computer, and I will then post pictures, etc. Oh - but to let you know - I didn't take any pictures today - didn't have my camera with me, since I left in a bit of a hurry. I'm sure I'll go back there - and hopefully with other people, so then they'll have people (that I know) in them. Yes, Dr. Arms - I went around Santiago by myself. I am glad that the days are long now since it's summer, so I don't have to worry about getting home before dark, though. Another note - I have soaked in some rays in the past week - at the cabin, yesterday and today out and about, etc. Oh - and gotten lots of mosquito (or something like it - sancuros) bites!

Buenas tardes to all!
