
This is one part of La Chascona, one of Pablo Neruda's houses, which I visited yesterday. He had a few things that he was obsessed with, ideas that he liked to play with, and one of those was the feeling of being near the sea/on a ship - so you can kind of see that in this part of the house. 2 reasons for this - 1) we're not next to the ocean in Santiago, like his other two houses are, and 2) he couldn't actually be out at sea, because he got seasick, and so he jokingly called himself the Captain, but could only admire the water from afar.
